How do parents benefit from having their children profiled?
Children have been the biggest beneficiaries of my Brain Profiling career.
All the children who are brought to me for a Sound Therapy assessment automatically are Brain Profiled. This allows me
to understand where the child is getting stuck. I usually do an hours feedback with the parents of the child to enlighten
them to their child's profile. This really empowers parents, allowing them to communicate more effectively with their
children. Also I find that once they understand why the child is doing this or that, they have greater compassion and
sympathy to the child's plight. They also then have tools to work with.
I also have connected with the teachers of these children. Not all, by any means, but those parents who feel that the
teacher would benefit from this understanding, have set up meetings for me and the teachers. Personally I think all
teachers should know all the children's profiles. I think it should be part of a school entrance interview. This would
assist the teachers as well as the children. I have known schools to profile every child and it made a huge impact on
the harmony in the classroom and it made the teachers job much easier. This is yet to occur in New Zealand.
Before I left South Africa I was given the task of profiling 108 grade ones at a primary school in Johannesburg. I gave
a talk to all the parents of those children and was able to explain to them why many of the children were having
difficulties. Again, I met with teachers one on one to discuss children they were frustrated with and having seen the
profile of that child they were able to communicate more effectively and to offer other solutions to that child.
Often the solutions are simple, but teachers today are overwhelmed with other issues. I remember giving a talk to
the teachers before I profiled all the children and they felt I was going to put more on their plates, When in reality
I made their ability to do their jobs much more possible.

"Thanks so much for doing Matthew’s brain profile report at Primary School.
I was a bit skeptical, with a Masters in Physiotherapy and a Science background , I have different mindset when it
comes to Assessment. But your assessment was spot-on and I am impressed."

"I asked Noeline to do a brain profile on my 3 1/2 old son. I was a bit concerned about how he would cope
with the process, as he does not like unfamiliar environments or strangers in his space. But he simply had
to sit on my lap and was perfectly content to do so. Both my husband and I were impressed at the accuracy
of the profile and we came away with a better understanding of how our son processes the world. Noeline
also gave us some useful tips on how best to communicate with him now and in the future. Thanks Noeline,
that is a very valuable tool you have. Deborah Lynch April 2011"

A client shares what she gained from having her children profiled
Noeline did a brain profile on my 2 sons and I found the results to be very helpful. Firstly, the 2 boys profiles
came out so differently that it made me realise that we just can't treat them the same. Secondly, with my
eldest, I found out that he likes to know what is going to happen in advance and needs to be prepared. I used
to try to be spontaneous with him and do things randomly without warning and this was met with resistance
and anger. Now I know to give him plenty of warning and even if he doesn’t like what we are going to do, by
the time we have to go, he goes with no resistance. I have also learned that both boys stop listening to my
words when my emotions come through, so I have to be calm when I am angry or frustrated if I want them
to hear me.
I too had my profile done and found it very interesting and although I inwardly knew most of the things I was
told, it reinforced what I knew about my strengths and weaknesses and gave me a starting point when
reassessing my career. Instead of trying to change myself, I worked with my strengths and supported my
weaknesses! My only wish now is that my daughters would be willing to have their profiles done. That way I can
give them what they need and get the best from them!
